The Mayor's Fund

What is The Mayor's Fund?

The Mayor's Fund was implemented shortly after I took office.  The idea behind the fund is to promote selflessness and community pride in Cordova.  I donate my salary back to the City by placing the funds into an account and using them on various projects, goods, or services that will enhance the community spirit and image of Cordova.

How does it work?

Each month, the salary is placed into an account, and then various projects can be completed using the funds.  We are open to suggestions and ideas of projects and are always looking for ideas to complete.  Please feel free to email suggestions to: [email protected]

What have we been doing?

Cordova, Alabama A Little History Lesson

image

Cordova, AL is a city that was shaped by coal mining and a textile mill, and is now rising from the destruction of an EF-3 and an EF-4 tornado in April of 2011. The city was dubbed Cordova by Captain Benjamin Long after previously being referred to as "Dent" or "Dent's Place." Captain Long settled in the city in the late 1850s and forever shaped the landscape of the city. He lured many industries to the city, including a textile mill that has shaped the industrial and residential face of the city to this very day.
